FAQs

Should I run through pain?

No! This is a warning sign!

What are the main causes of running injuries?

Training errors such as too much too soon, lack of variety in pace, having no training plan, poor technique.

Is running bad for knees?

For healthy knees, no! I have seen many footballers requiring knee surgery or replacement due to severe ligament or cartilage damage, but not runners.

Expensive, well cushioned running shoes help avoid injury, right?

We are all different and they may help some people but there is no strong evidence to this effect. Technically, we tend to run better with thin soled shoes with little heel.

Do I need to stretch before running?

There is no evidence that stretching before running helps to avoid injury and static stretching just before running may reduce muscle power.
